www.stalker.com/terry

Well, I finally caved in to pressure and joined stalker.com, more commonly known by its real name of Facebook. Was it peer pressure that caused me to join? No, it was partially to shut them up and partially to see what the big deal is. (Speaking of peer pressure, to answer the question ‘if your friends jumped off a bridge, would you join them?’, the answer is not only did I join them but I ended up jumping first because I filled out the waiver faster.)

After being on for just a few minutes, here are my two main initial thoughts:
- The stalking of random people seems almost limitless. I guess this is what ‘they’ were talking about years ago about how the internet would connect everyone…though mutual stalking ability.
- Now what? I don’t see what the big deal is yet – it’s just one more means to not communicate with people. In the beginning there was email, which gave you the ability to email your friends all the time…until you stopped doing that. And then there was messenger and you could quickly chat with friends anywhere in the world…until you stopped doing that as well. Now there’s Facebook to give you more options for how to not really talk with your semi-friends. Yay, technology!

Or maybe it’s just me.
